Day 8 - Yokohama and The Raumen (Ramen) Museum

After a fairly busy day at TAF 2010 (Part One, Part Two), I built up quite an appetite. It was a perfect time to make that long awaited trip to the Raumen Museum located in Shin-Yokohama!

(Please don't confuse this with the instant ramen museum in Osaka.)

Now many of us have made it through some frugal times in college by enjoying ramen in its microwaveable form:

Or maybe you got classy, and used the version you cooked on the stove:

No my friend, we're taking ramen.

Day 8 - Tokyo Anime Fair 2010 (Part 2)

If you're still with me, I'll spend this portion just talking about some of the various things that I liked and did during the 2 or 3 hours I was wandering the fair. Feel free to move along, as this will likely get heavily anime-centric.

Still here? Pop a squat. This could take a while... (WARNING, this is a REALLY LONG POST!)

Day 8 - Tokyo Anime Fair 2010 (Part 1)

As some of you may already know, I am an avid consumer of anime and manga. As I was planning the trip, I thought it would be fun to attend the Tokyo Anime Fair, which happens in March in Tokyo. This particular fair or convention isn't as fan-centric perhaps as Wonfes or even Comiket since it is largely corporate-driven.

For lack of a better comparison, it is essentially being a car enthusiast going to an auto show, seeing what's coming up for this year, and potentially getting suckered into taking home a ton of free literature, and buying merchandise from on-site vendors. Not a bad way to spend the day for an anime fan.

Day 7 In Review

Sushi making time! All the details of how I did at sushi making are found here.

If you stay at one of the major hotels, you'll be able to take advantage of the fact that for most of the Sunrise Tours, they can pick you up directly from your hotel.

Day 6 In Review (Part 1)

...or what I'd like to think as ESCAPE FROM MIYAJIMA ISLAND!!! (more on this later!)

The morning greeting me with a steady influx of rain and wind.

I had already checked out of the hotel, planning to make a quick excursion to Miyajima Island. Stay for a couple of hours, see a couple of things, pick up a trinket or two, then run back to Hiroshima to see more of the Peace Park.
