2011 NBA Playoffs: The Race to 16 Wins Begins...

No matter what happened in the regular season, everyone goes back to 0-0.

The first to 16 wins, comes home with one of these:

Going into the season, we had reasonable expectations for the season. Perhaps home-court advantage for the first 2 rounds in the playoffs. Maybe a favorable bracket that sees the Bulls sneak into Conference Finals. Questions were raised. Can Rose play at a high level? Can Boozer stay healthy? Can Noah continue to bring the same intensity? Can the Bulls win with Bogans as a starting guard?

Neither rabid fan, game film watcher or stat geek could have predicted how the regular season unfolded, and how this Bulls team blossomed into a dominant force. The results speak for themselves, but now new questions are raised. Can the Bulls advance far, without having won a playoff series? Do the Bulls have another gear, another level of intensity? Can the Bulls win as they have all year long?

It just reminds me of a surprise we all had during Media Day earlier this year. Derrick Rose was asked about the expectations he had for this year. Perhaps many of us were expecting a bland, politically correct answer, stating a reasonable modest set of goals and expectations.

Instead...

And with Derrick Rose and Coach Thibodeau setting...demanding the highest expectations, and the work ethic to go along with it. I believe this team as a collective continues to ask itself...why not?

If they continue to put in 48 minutes of effort every game, why can't they advance far, farther than any team has?

If they put in practice and preparation, and trust and execute the coaching staff's game plans as they have all season, why wouldn't match other team's somehow newfound "gears" or "levels" of intensity?

If they've done it before, all season long, winning against the best of the league, never losing more than 2 games in a row, why would it be a surprise to continue to see them just continue to win...win...and win?

It's going to be a crazy ride, Bulls fans!
