Day 10 In Review (Part 2)

Sufficiently powered up by a delicious breakfast, I decided to see if I could find some interesting shops in Harajuku before my trip out of Tokyo later in the afternoon.

Here's the Laforet department store / museum:

And I wonder what is sold in here?

An example of the Victorian dress style, which is the opposite of the phrase "leaves nothing to the imagination".

On the weekends, this area gets particularly congested. In fact, there was a bit of a stampede that occurred here that was mentioned in the news.

It was for AKB48, one of the hottest all-girl idol groups in Japan right now. So I can understand...I think.

(That last photo wasn't mine, by the way.)

This shopping district can be somewhat fun. As you can see, there are a large amount of shops and restaurants.

Although the clothing is mostly for a younger crowd...

there were some items that a wider age range could pull off.

Otherwise, you could always eat at one of the many crepe stalls:

Or pick up one or more candid photos of your favorite celebrity:

Or people watch:

(Did you know that you're wearing the same thing? Oh you DID? ...)

Well, that's it for Harajuku for now. It's off to Minakami Town this afternoon.

Bonus story!

You may have noticed this picture in my Photostream and wondered what was going on.

Well, about a minute before, I was wandering the neighborhood, and came across an apartment building where some girls happened to be quietly relaxing. Well, relaxing until they suddenly went from zero to panic. About 4 of them ran as fast as they could down the street. So I decided to follow them and find out what the big deal was. Was a friend in danger? Were they secretly super heroes? Were they on the run from the law?

No, no and no. It turns out that they worked for a local store, and had all lost track of time. They almost forgot to open the store. The picture is the last girl finally making it to the store.
