Day 12 In Review - Japanese Garden

Practically outside my doorstep and underneath my view, I had somehow not made it out to walk around one of the most famous and renowned Japanese Gardens in the area. Fortunately, the timing and weather worked out for me to finally take a peek.

A pretty relaxing prelude to the day, it was nice to see up close, what I had only seen from above. There were some elevated area...

But I decided to stick closer to ground level. Also, there is a teppanyaki restaurant (think Benihana) that is part of the garden grounds.

But I didn't get to try it.

Time for some crazy food for thought.

This particular area used to be part of the outer moat for Edo Castle. Some of the trees in the garden are over a century old. How far away was the outer moat to Edo Castle.

Let's look at that using Google Maps. (Edo Castle is in the larger green area.)

Outer moat? Talk about security!

One of my favorite pictures from this set:

If I ever have a large garden of this scale, it will most definitely have running water.

Flowers.

And koi.

Sakura too!

Probably not a rock garden though. Although I appreciate the effort and artistry, I don't think it does anything for me even as a meditative aide.

Here's the entire set for your enjoyment:

Next up... Ghibli Museum!
