Sushi making time! All the details of how I did at sushi making are found here.
If you stay at one of the major hotels, you'll be able to take advantage of the fact that for most of the Sunrise Tours, they can pick you up directly from your hotel.
Nice colors and art on this classy looking kimono:
Oddly, despite staying pretty close to Tokyo Tower, this is the closest I would get to it.
Finally, we made it to Tsukiji Market. The famous tuna auctions are held in the inner market. It used to be open to general public most of the year. But due to the bad manners of various tourists, the tuna auctions have either closed or restricted access to the general public. Even though this video is Japanese, I think it's pretty clear how ill-mannered some of these people were, while people were trying to make a living. (Touching and even lickingthe tuna, and just getting in the way of their day to day operations.) Anyway, here's a far away view of the inner market:
Now, the outer market? That's free game for residents and visitors alike. A treat for those looking for food to eat now, or food to eat later.
Look at that big pot of curry!
...and more places to eat!
..and all the fresh food to buy!
Once the brief exploration was over, it was time for class. After a nice hearty meal, we said our farewells, and I walked over to Ginza for the first time. Quite an upscale neighborhood, even people passing through seemed dress for the neighborhood as well.
It didn't take too long, but like a moth to the flame...
A "meta" picture of sorts, my camera taking a picture of itself.
A demonstration of using their camcorder to use burst photography and motion detection to analyze your golf swing.
What a pretty laptop...oh so pretty!
Of course, what else would be playing on the televisions but Final Fantasy?
A lot of different color options for various Sony products:
And one of the friendly Sony employees that was able to decipher my broken Japanese to answer various product questions I had:
For all of my Hello Kitty peeps (from the store in Ginza):
After a short break, I finally wander over to the busy section of Shinjuku for the first time.
Not sure if you can tell, but there are a lot of people out!
Compared to some of the other neighborhoods I was in, there were a much larger concentration of people hanging out in large groups in a variety of combinations. There was a much higher percentage of co-workers hanging out as well. You can typically identify co-workers because they will usually come straight from their office. The men will still have the remnants of their office attire, button down white shirt, and a loosened tie. The women will still be dressed in their professional blouses and skirts. If you don't like large loud crowds, you might not like this area at all. Whew! Enjoy the rest of the Day 7 photos. Day 8 brings one of the events I had been looking forward to, the Tokyo Anime Fair! -- day 7 end --
